Some struggles are WAR,
a war within, a fight to survive, to see the end of it, to live and win..!!

Workplaces can be a real prison for some of us, some do have fun & work side-by-side, but there are a few, who finds it really hard to co-exist with all that is going around. All that prayers to bypass every single instances, each hours can be immensely intimidating, some faces can put you down with their mere existance.
This guy, I'm talking about, has seen the WORST of It's kind. Putting extra hours in almost every alternative day, 2 concurrent systems to double up the productivity,  sometimes been asked to work 5-7days at a stretch, yet underappreciated & been unkind to & looked down upon for the perception they had of him. He has seen the WORST, yet he was a tough nut to crack..He was deep-down in depression, unsure about his credibility, & knew HE MUST BREAK-FREE, or he'll loose EVERYTHING...!!! What happened to him, is a different story..:)

Please be kind to everyone at work, you never know how much efforts someone is putting in, resulting zero to minimal effects. There are manipulators, leeches in camouflages of peers & It's a toxic environment to breathe in..Already, their struggle is far bigger coz of their inability of bootlicking, they surely Didn't ask for any further roadblocks...!! 💯

Today we are celebrating St John's Wort Day! The ancient Greeks used the plant to worship the sun as it tends to flower at the time of the summer solstice. The Druids, Celts and Romans burnt it on bonfires to celebrate the midsummer festival. This wonderful herb blossoms and is harvested around St John's Feast Day on 24 June (hence the name St John's Wort). The herb would be hung on doors to ward off evil spirits and provide protection against harm and sickness to man and livestock. The genus name 'Hypericum' derives from the Greek words hyper (above) and eikon (picture), refering to the tradition of hanging the herb over religious icons during Midsummer Day. The leaves of the herb have tiny translucent oil glands and so its second latin name, 'perforatum', refers to this perforated appearance visible when you hold the leaf up to the light.
Hypericum has got many healing properties, however, it is now mostly known and extensively researched for its mood uplifting properties and its use in mild and moderate depression. St John's Wort complex chemistry has effects on many neurotransmitters including serotonin, dopamine and noradrenalin, which affect mood. It is also a useful liver and gallbladder tonic as it helps stimulate bile flow and eases liver stagnation. Despite its many benefits the herb should NOT be taken alongside any prescription medication due to possible interactions. As such, it must NOT be taken on antidepressants, contraceptive pills, warfarin, heart medications etc. 
Externally, the red oil or extract of Hypericum has been used in the treatment of cuts, wounds, burns, neuralgia (nerve pain), tired and aching muscles, stiff joints, cold sores, chicken pox and shingles. It has anti-inflammatory activity and used topically it can be a helpful lightweight painkiller. However do NOT use the hypericum on sunny days as it might cause photosensitivity!

Birthday patterns from last month.

I turned 30 one month ago, and I knew it was going to be rough, but it was exponentially worse than I'd imagined.

The only comparable experience that I can come up with was when I was a kid, maybe 7 or 8, and my family went to the beach. My sister and I were diving through the waves as they crashed down on the shore, but one grabbed me the wrong way and dragged me across the ocean floor. Sand and salt water swirled around my eyes and I couldn't tell up from down, but I just kept reaching unsuccessfully for the surface, over and over and over again. Just when I was certain I wasn't going to make it, I found the air.

That's what my life has felt like for months. I couldn't see what had a hold of me, but I was certain I was going to drown. It's so good to feel the air in my lungs again.

For me, my therapist told me to stop thinking of my healing as a destination. It's a journey. There will always be something to work on. Give yourself some credit on how far you've come.

Spot the difference (not the carpet, they're different rooms😝)! One thing about being super organised AND deciding to go for the first dress I like to save months of indecision, is that my body has changed quite a bit in 4 months 🙈... I love this bright number from @monsoon but definitely don't feel as good in it now as I did in March! For various reasons - one being I have recently started taking meds for my mental health for the first time ever and although when they said I'd probably put on weight I thought 'I'm on it, I'll just ignore the hunger and eat like I normally do', it's been much harder in practice. But I am determined not to have to buy a new dress for the wedding, so I am upping my appearances at the gym, eating more healthily and getting back into my running. Less than a month to go... Another beach shot cause I felt so damn good that day. ANYWAY happy Monday! I want to do a mental check in for myself and making sure I don’t forget where I’m at today. Today- I’m content, gaining strength, and relatively PAIN FREE. I went to the gym 5 times last week- something I could never imagine doing last year. The contrast between this year and last is so insane to me. Last year I was in the hospital because of migraines, my left leg was significantly weaker than the right, I was almost blacking out on a daily basis, and I was barely able to walk. This year I’m committing to working out almost every day, regaining strength and joint stability (to do better when the next flare inevitably happens), and working on my mental health. I’m trying very hard to stop making excuses and putting things off. I want to jump into things and make my life happen the way I want it to. I want to be in control of my life (the parts I can control at the very least). I’m recommitting to the things I’ve learned throughout 1 years of therapy and ultimately recommitting to myself. Fibromyalgia and depression are going to be apart of my life forever, but I’m so damn determined to work on it everyday. I know I’m going to have divert dark days. I know I’m going to fall into holes and cry and be afraid, but I want to remember how I’m feeling now. And I’m feeling fucking good. Today- I’m content, gaining strength, and relatively PAIN FREE. I went to the gym 5 times last week- something I could never imagine doing last year. 😋 QUICK TIPS TO EAT HEALTHIER, SATIATING MEALS 😋

1️⃣ Don’t skip breakfast. 🥞 Instead of reaching for sugar-y cereals or high-sugar coffee beverages, try whipping up some protein pancakes, a homemade, protein-filled smoothie, or pre-make some hb eggs 🥚 for convenience. It’ll make all the difference in your morning, and you won’t be starving by 10 am.

2️⃣ Crave the *crunch* of chips at lunch? 🎶 Swap potato chips for carrots 🥕 or cucumber 🥒 or pepper 🌶 with hummus. It’s more satisfying & a great way to sneak veggies into your meal. (My boyfriend has done this, and he feels WAYYY less snack-y in the afternoons.)

I could make excuses to hit up McDonald’s or QT every day, but I plan accordingly. I’m not perfect — and I forget a meal at home sometimes. Feeding my belly helps fuel my mind, which gets me through the work day.

😋 QUICK TIPS TO EAT HEALTHIER, SATIATING MEALS 😋

1️⃣ Don’t skip breakfast. 🥞 Instead of reaching for sugar-y cereals or high-sugar coffee beverages, try whipping up some protein pancakes, a homemade, protein-filled smoothie, or pre-make some hb eggs 🥚 for convenience. It’ll make all the difference in your morning, and you won’t be starving by 10 am.

2️⃣ Crave the *crunch* of chips at lunch? 🎶 Swap potato chips for carrots 🥕 or cucumber 🥒 or pepper 🌶 with hummus. It’s more satisfying & a great way to sneak veggies into your meal. (My boyfriend has done this, and he feels WAYYY less snack-y in the afternoons.)

3️⃣ Trade afternoon pick-me-ups (like pop, sweet treats, etc) for a handful of fruit. Use it to top on Greek yogurt, and you’ve got yourself a snack to fuel you through the rest of the work day. .

I’ll probably delete this pretty quickly because I hate the way I look, but I’m in an honest mood. 
These pics were both taken this weekend. It becomes second nature to put on a smile when you suffer from depression. Depression isn’t fair, and it hurts so bad. The hardest part for me isn’t pretending to be happy; the truth is I’m a pretty good actress at this point. For me, the hardest part is feeling the darkness take a stronger hold than normal and being powerless to stop it. It should be easier to fight when you know that’s what’s happening, but it’s really not at all. I don’t even know the person smiling; that’s just a mask hiding the person on the right. The right is what happens in privacy while sharing funny memes and talking to friends as if everything is okay. It’s not. I’m not. 
I’m not good with words, I hate having attention focused on me, and I don’t like being a downer so I’m going to stop now. I just wanted to be open for a minute because so many people suffer in silence thinking they’re alone or people won’t understand. Then it becomes too late. You’re not alone, and it’s okay to let the mask slip sometimes. Stay strong. The darkness will pass eventually. ❤️

We can take all the baths, go on all the vacations, and read all the books we want, but the pain, hurt, and trauma that has been pushed down and stored deep down in our hearts won't ever go away until we finally deal with them. They will only get buried deeper and deeper, until it eventually, it becomes too much, and they start seeping out in our lives, and something in us, breaks. Until we finally cannot hold in or hide the pain anymore.

Jesus is the ONLY one who knows what we have been through. Every single thing. He is the only one who can go back with us, to each situation, and TAKE that pain FROM us. But, we have to go back. We HAVE to deal with each one. We have to acknowledge what has been done. We have to allow ourselves to FEEL the pain, and process it, to let it go and finally be free from it. 
When I went to a Christian counselor (which I highly recommend) for the first time, I didn't think that the issues I was having had ANYTHING to do with some of the things I had been through. Like, NO clue.  But friends, all of those things WERE the reasons I was having issues!

As we go through life, starting as precious children, we get hurt, and we will do whatever we need to do to survive the pain if we aren’t taught how to deal with it in a healthy way. Some of us harden to get through. Some of us, stuff and pretend these things never happened. Some of us turn to substances and would rather live in a state of numbing than feeling.

We were never meant to live in a state of survival. We were never meant to carry the weight of what's been done to us. That is why Jesus came. To take ALL of the sin of this world, that others have done to us, and, what WE have done to ourselves and to others. And to heal of us it. To rid us of it, and remove the imprint left on us, from it.

We don't need any more self love or self help books. We need the love of Jesus, to go in every crevice of our heart, and heal us, from the inside out. THAT love, changes things. THAT love, heals. And THAT love, has all the power in the world, to free you all the issues you want to change. Spend your time seeking THAT love, and EVERYTHING in you, and your life, will start to change.

🌸As people with C-PTSD, we are always at risk of being invalidated- even by our own selves!

It is actually a part of our C-PTSD to downplay what we went through, to question our experiences, and doubt ourselves.

We have been invalidated for our entire lives. As abused children when nobody seemed to know or care what was happening to us. As traumatized adults when we couldn’t explain what we’re going through now.

Let’s say we have an easy week out of nowhere- no flashbacks, good sleep- and suddenly we doubt if we ever had C-PTSD at all, even though we know our tough days will be back.

Or if we think too long about how our family sees their behavior. They don’t acknowledge that they were abusive, neglectful, chaotic, dominated by their personality disorder... So we start to feel like maybe WE are the ones in the wrong.

Additionally, a lot of us struggle to remember our childhoods! We know it was bad, as we developed this traumatized response, but our brains protect us and we can’t remember our past. This can be tempting grounds for self invalidation- if I can’t remember it, how bad could it have been?

Maybe we think, I was never hit. No one sexually abused me. They didn’t yell that much. We compare our experience to others and invalidate emotional and mental abuse, especially. Emotional, mental, verbal abuse and neglect are horrible for us to go through (especially for children by their parents) and IS bad enough to give us C-PTSD.

We think, I’m just wired wrong, I’m broken, I’m the problem. This is incorrect thinking. This is invalidating the things that developed your brain in this extreme way.

So: we HAVE to know better than our impulse to invalidate. Validation is incredibly key to healing from C-PTSD.

Find a validating therapist, support network, and strengthen the part of yourself that always has your back and believes you. You deserve that!
