#Ladies, how many times do we have to learn that it’s the little things we do that count towards the big things? 
In order to build a house, complete a puzzle, run a marathon, write a book or do pretty much ANYTHING in this life, we need to honour small steps. We all know this…  so why do we keep losing sight of it? 
The habits we form allow us to do the little things. From getting out of bed every day to writing a little every day to exercising every day, we see time and time again that these are the disciplines that allow us to excel. So why not start there? If there’s a mountain that seems impossible to climb, why not take a walk every day? Why not write 100 words a day in preparation for that novel we aspire to write? Why not book that class, ask that question or Google that thing? What’s the worst that could happen? Success? Clarity? Progress?

I used to spend HOURS cooking supper. Every. Single. Night!!! Even although I absolutely love cooking, it was exhausting. And it felt like cooking consumed my life... Being on the Paleo diet, working full-time and simplifying mealtimes was quite a challenge. But at last I feel like we’ve got a grip on things!

And I can confidently tell you... mealtimes can be simplified no matter what lifestyle diet you’re following.

THIS IS HOW I DID IT:

1. Fancy / new meals are reserved for weekends. Because I love trying new recipes, but let’s face it... Meals on weeknights need to be simple, easy and QUICK.
2. Meats are batch cooked. Sunday afternoon is usually cooking time - roasting two full chickens in the oven for a few hours, stew meat in the pressure cooker for a few hours or anything else that takes a bit of time to prepare. On a weeknight it’s just a matter of quickly putting on some rice, making a quick salad or par-boiling some veggies.
3. Meats are “recycled” during the week. So it doesn’t feel like we’re eating the same thing several times in one week. You might think “recycled meat”... what the heck?! 😄 with that I mean using e.g. stew meat in a variety of ways - soup, or stew with rice. Chicken could be pieces with rice and veg, another dish could be gluten free pasta with sauce and shredded chicken.
4. Involving the kids in mealtime. They will help peeling veggies, adding spices to the food, clearing up once we are done and set the table. That way cooking isn’t something that takes me away from them, but it becomes an activity we can do together.
5. Have one or two super easy meals in the week, for us it is gluten free pasta with a tomato & veggie sauce and some salami strips. Not strictly Paleo, but the kids love it! So it’s always a winner!! This has really simplified our routine on weeknights! Do you have any other tips that you’ve used to make mealtime super quick and easy? Pleas share them below...

I'm a sucker for vintage style roses...those huge curled petals and those subtle dirty pink tones...... absolutely gorgeous! Sitting pretty on my mantle as we speak! Off to the opticians this morning to sort my new frames...it's always a dilemma, I get so attached to my current frames that I struggle choosing new ones. It's like when you have to get a new purse, nothing quite lives up to your old one! Watch this space for a new glasses selfie at some point!

Getting into good shape really doesn't need to involve very complex and elaborate strategies. In fact, you can get quite far just by focusing on doing the fundamentals well.

After being pregnant, I naturally wanted to get back into my normal shape. And I'm happy to say that, that has gone really well! It's now almost three months post-partum and I am now in an even better shape than I was before the pregnancy. 
So what have I done? 
1, Trained 5x/week. 3 full-body workouts with focus on getting stronger in the main lifts (squat, bench press & deadlift) and 2 runs - one shorter and one longer. And instead of just thinking about how many calories I burn, I've focused on just improving my performance.
2, Eating food that is nutritious and not so processed, minimized the amounts of treats (though not completely eliminated 🌞🍦), and been mindful not to overeat on things I know I easily overeat on. 
3, Tried to get at least 10 000 steps every day. 
4, Done my best to get good sleep and not stress so much. 
5, Focused on feeling well.

No special fat-burning workouts, no strict diets, no forbidden foods. Just things that make me feel good and that are good for my body.
