Like a floating hat - the top of la concha, yesterday. It was on my way home from my morning walk just being in the present moment I discovered this “hat”. Becoming a mindfulness coach two years ago really brought my awareness to another level. I wanted to learn the technic of mindfulness so I could teach others to be more in the present moment, to get rid of stress and the negative mindset.

I’m the yogateacher was fully present, I thought. That was what yoga made to me, I thought.

The fact was I was fully present at the mat, but otherwise ....?.?.? No, I was pretty much like everybody else, while doing things my mind was somewhere else.

I didn’t realize I was setting myself outside development. I thought I knew “everything” as a yogateacher. To become a mindfulness coach made me realize there was another level of being present. I the yoga teacher that had practiced awareness in 12 years reached another level I didn’t know existed.

Today I meet people who never had practiced mindfulness, but they think they know what mindfulness is by trying to ”think” what it is.... Are you like that?

Or do you have the curage and vulnerability to say you don’t know anything about mindfulness but want to learn?

Milestone 💎 What is your 10x goal? What are the obstacles you’re putting in the way of achieving it? What excuses are you peddling to yourself and others about it’s attainability? When did you form the limiting beliefs and survival strategies that underpin those stories? These are a few of the questions at the heart of the Deep Inner Game Intensive I assisted at in LA this weekend with @neil_strauss and his team at The Society. Working intimately with such a master of the craft (and a personal hero) and his team of badasses, along with a crowd of hungry, growth-minded people from around the world, ignited a 72-hour symphony of cerebral fireworks. Feeling expanded, inspired and truly grateful. Couldn’t have asked for a better way to celebrate my 30th birthday. Thank You @pablo.j.rosario for the opportunity.

Everything that you have done thus far resulted in a decision you have made prior. I'm not just a member, I'm a client.😂 I have dealt with insomnia, anxiety, and Adhd with little or no help and wasn't even officially  diagnosed until my 40's (this explained a lot lol). For years, I was encouraged to meditate, listen to binaural beats and meditation music, and use essential oils. Last year I committed myself to growing and learning more about wellness, mindfulness, and spirituality and it has totally changed my life! Everything I practice with my students,  I use myself. Sometimes medicine is necessary,  but I am always willing to try natural alternatives FIRST. In my case  medicine was not helpful. Breathing exercises, an active lifestyle (we do daily walks/outdoor play, fun fitness, and kids yoga), healthy snacks and water, and we  use essential oils, soothing nature sounds, and meditation music/binaural beats during nap time, and World Music during the day. Of course, we still indulge in treats here and there.  We practice moderation though😉. My goal as their teacher is not just academic, but developing the WHOLE CHILD. I help them to self sooth, provide them with coping skills, and help them to feel safe, loved, nurtured, and empowered. As you see, the children have their favorite soft baby and are resting well. Ask their parents,  these children are  amazing and high energy lol. We discuss why we all need rest and why a regularly scheduled nap time is important (even if they just lay there quietly or read a book)  and the children always wake up and say, "Look, I grew." 🤗 They wake up rested, rejuvenated,  and say "Good afternoon!" 🙆🏽🙌🏽 *We vary the meditation  music we use (all free on youtube). Deliberate rest, like we find in Restorative Yoga, guides us through the process of an arrival, the uncomfortable agitation of slowing ourselves to stillness, the physiological settling that happens as our nervous system begins to relax, and the soul-communing, deeply radical, often magical moments that reveal themselves if we just stay a little longer, yet.

With nothing to do, and no one to be, an elimination of stimuli, we can dive into what we otherwise don’t allow time for. An inventory or sorting of all the thoughts that jumble at the surface. A deep exploration of interoceptive practices - that’s how the body feels from the inside - to create space for us to identify and locate a feeling, which might lead to insight on why we feel that way.

Deliberate rest, important for so many reasons on physical, mental, emotional and spiritual levels, is found in moments of dedication to this process, not layered or grouped with the other forms of restful being.

Being ghosted means having someone disappear on you. It can be abrupt and unexpected.

I’ve worked with lots of people who’ve been ghosted and I notice how hard they take this even if they didn’t feel any connection with the person.

This is because ghosting hits on our childhood attachment wounds. It brings up the emotions that come with not being seen or heard. It triggers memories of emotional neglect or abandonment we haven’t processed. These repressed emotional experiences feel so painful and raw regardless of how we feel about the other person.

When these wounds come up, the mind creates stories around them. “This person left because I’m worthless” “No one will ever want to be with me” “There’s no point in having friends because none of them stick around.” Our inner child makes ghosting something about who we are.

The reality is being ghosted has nothing to do with us. Leaving another person’s life without explanation comes from low emotional maturity. It speaks to that person’s integrity. It gives you valuable feedback on their level of self worth.

If you’re ghosted, it’s ok to be upset. You have ever right to be hurt. And confused.

But in the haze of the emotion do not forget you have the ability to observe. You can see people’s behavior as feedback. You can take that feedback and decide if it means something about you, OR if it means something about them. This is empowerment.

Behavior is how a person feels about themselves. Read it again.

A blue dragonfly visited me today several times while I was drying up after swimming in the lake. Skillfully using the airflows, an enormous capacity of adaptation to wind changes...perhaps someone to mirror?

Had a lot of fun for the Lady’s birthday. Nice time with friends at a cantina type place where she enjoyed a huge margarita (her favorite). Then some gifts, “dirty Star Trek” Madlibs and coffee at Starbucks and a nice dinner at a buffet where they have her half off. As Pema Chödrön wrote in her book, 'The Wisdom of No Escape':

"Meditation practice isn't about trying to throw ourselves away and become something better. It's about befriending who we are already."

We can't change or upgrade ourselves into a more lovable version of us. We can't hate ourselves into someone we can love. There is no path to happiness or enlightenment that includes beating ourselves up. The only way is love. And the most important love is the one you give yourself.

Judging ourselves for an experience (and judging the experience) does not benefit us. It is neither motivating nor is it supportive. Telling ourselves not to feel something doesn’t make it go away and it also invalidates our experience in that moment.  Essentially we are sending ourselves the message that experiencing what we are feeling in that moment is wrong and bad. It’s not a large jump to see how shame and guilt can quickly come into play here.

Instead, we can work on strengthening our ability to accept what we are experiencing in that moment. We can show non-judgment to ourselves and to our experience. We can choose to accept and validate what we are feeling while living in line with our values. We can do this hard thing. You can do this! I believe in YOU💛

How often do you find your life less stimulating, feeling stuck, and frustrated with how your life seems to go?

If you keep your feelings to yourself
Often hide behind a smile
Dissociate from emotions with food, alcohol, drugs, porn, etc.
Have unfulfilling relationships

What is not ex-pressed is left unsaid, and here in lies your growth.
•
The more you push down and keep in what needs out, the more the unexpressed parts of you keep you stuck. It’s the difference between holding a seed in your hand versus putting into the ground.
•
However, the more you express, allowing out what is in, you become more rooted in your true self; giving voice to your pains, challenges, and limiting beliefs.
•
Let me give you a personal example: For many years I felt I wasn’t enough as I am. It stemmed from being bullied and sexually assaulted in elementary school. It led to years of unexpressed hurts; displayed as manipulative, dishonest, and overcommitted behaviors. I used my outgoing personality, my athleticism, and my smarts to guard the pains living deep inside my heart.
•
Though this started in elementary school, it affected the level to which I built relationships with others and myself through adulthood.
•
Through my own personal journey, I learned this is not enough. I was closing all the emotional colors out, and stumping my growth.
•
In reading this, it does not describe how difficult this process was for me. It took months of me acknowledging and voicing the feelings and limiting beliefs around never being enough that I have carried all my life.
•
Whatever you own story is—our parallel and connectedness lies in what is tied to what is unsaid and what is ex-pressed.
•
Just as flowers need healthy roots in order to blossom, feelings can only be expressed in their beauty when they are rooted within you. You must break ground and let them grow.
•
It’s the relationship between flower and root, between what is allowed out versus what it allowed in, which determines how you experience life.
