Dinner - you want some? 😂🤗🤮
Fried Crickets (Payit Kyaw)
Fried crickets are a kind of snack and though many foreigners think they are cockroaches, they are not.
They are a seasonal insect so sometimes they can’t easily be bought. The winter season is cricket season although this year the prices are still high. It may look awful—some locals even dare not try it—but the taste is amazing. It tastes rich and crunchy and it’s really perfect with beer. The price per cricket is K100 and you can see the vendors around the downtown area and on 19th Street.

Yangon Circular Railway, Myanmar 🤪🚄🚂🚃
Yangon Circular Railway (Burmese: ရန်ကုန် မြို့ပတ် ရထား [jàɴɡòʊɴ mjo̰baʔ jətʰá]) is the local commuter rail network that serves the Yangon metropolitan area. Operated by Myanmar Railways, the 45.9-kilometre (28.5 mi) 39-station loop system connects satellite towns and suburban areas to the city. Circa 2008–2010, the railway had about 200 coaches, had 20 daily runs, and sold 100,000 to 150,000 tickets daily. The loop, which takes about three hours to complete, is a way to see a cross section of life in Yangon. The Railway is heavily utilized by lower-income commuters, as it is (along with buses) the cheapest method of transportation in Yangon.
Yangon Circular Railway was built during colonial times by the British. The double track railway was built in 1954.

Botataung Pagoda, Yangon Myanmar 😇😉🤗
The Botataung Pagoda (Burmese: ဗိုလ်တထောင်ဘုရား[bòtətʰàʊɴ pʰəjá]; also spelled Botahtaung; literally "1000 military officers") is a famous pagoda located in downtown Yangon, Myanmar, near the Yangon river. The pagoda was first built by the Mon around the same time as was Shwedagon Pagoda—according to local belief, over 2500 years ago, and was known as Kyaik-de-att in Mon language. The pagoda is hollow within, and houses what is believed to be a sacred hair of Gautama Buddha.
According to Burmese tradition, it was on a hillock at this site that one thousand military officers of the king were drawn up as a guard of honor to welcome the landing in Burma of the relics of the Buddha brought over from India more than two thousand years ago. An account from ancient histories of the building of the Pagoda states that the Buddhist king Sihadipa gave one of his ministers a sacred hair from the Buddha's head and two body relics and this minister, renowned for his goodness and faith, consulted a famous religious leader and, on his advice, chose the Botataung Mount on the bank of Yangon River at a distance one thousand tars (7,000 cubits) in a South-Easterly direction from the Shwedagon Pagoda and there enshrined the sacred relics.

Botataung Pagoda, Yangon Myanmar 😇😉🤗
Bo Bo Gyi (Burmese: ဘိုးဘိုးကြီး, pronounced [bó bó dʑí]; lit. "great grandfather") traditionally refers to the name of a guardian spirit (called nat) unique to each Burmese Buddhist temple or pagoda. Bo Bo Gyi is typically depicted as a nearly life-sized elderly man, dressed in a curved cap and sometimes carrying a cane, to signify old age. Offerings of scarves and paso are common by worshipers. The are many Bo Bo Gyi shrines throughout the country, and some are more widely respected than others. The Shwenyaungbin (Golden Banyan Tree) Bo Bo Gyi shrine between Yangon and Bago is often visited by new car owners hoping have their cars blessed by the Bo Bo Gyi spirit at that site.

The Shwedagon Pagoda, Yangon, Myanmar 😇😇😇
The Shwedagon Pagoda (Burmese: ရွှေတိဂုံဘုရား, IPA: [ʃwèdəɡòʊɴ pʰəjá]), officially named Shwedagon Zedi Daw (Burmese: ရွှေတိဂုံစေတီတော်, [ʃwèdəɡòʊɴ zèdìdɔ̀]) and also known as the Great Dagon Pagodaand the Golden Pagoda, is a gilded stupa located in Yangon, Myanmar. The 326-foot-tall (99 m) pagodais situated on Singuttara Hill, to the west of Kandawgyi Lake, and dominates the Yangon skyline.
Shwedagon Pagoda is the most sacred Buddhistpagoda in Myanmar, as it is believed to contain relicsof the four previous Buddhas of the present kalpa. These relics include the staff of Kakusandha, the water filter of Koṇāgamana, a piece of the robe of Kassapa, and eight strands of hair from the head of Gautama.
Historians and archaeologists maintain that the pagoda was built by the Mon people between the 6th and 10th centuries AD. However, according to legend, the Shwedagon Pagoda was constructed more than 2,600 years ago, which would make it the oldest Buddhist stupa in the world.

Unbelievable Bagan✨✨
In 11.-13. century during Pagan Empire, there were more than 10 000 temples, stupas and pagodas built in an area of 42 square km. Over the years most of them were destroyed by various wars, earthquakes or floods so there are only about 2200 temples left today (which is still an impressive amount)...
There are no fences, nor entrance fees, you can just walk or ride ebike between them and discover new ones round every corner and literally feel like Indiana Jones!😄😍 Dreamy place!

Out of all the shots that I have of this place, this is my absolute favorite 😍 You wanna know why?⁣
⁣
There was this local kid that approached me while we were taking photos and said “I am a photographer, let me take a photo of you!” I looked at him with the expression on my face like “Sure you are! 🤨” but then I quickly smiled and said, “What do you know about photography?” I remembered his eyes lit with excitement and said, “Let me show you!” He was so confident, I swear! He was ready to show off! I’d be honest tho, I was a bit skeptical so I didn’t trust him with my gear. He looked at me with his eyes saying to trust him so I handed him my iPhone instead hoping he won’t run away with it 😟 He took the iPhone, told me exactly where to sit and then he snapped a few photos (and a bunch more after that). I turned my body sideways and asked him, “Can I see them?” He handed the phone back to me, took my umbrella and stood in front of me all proud waiting to hear for what I’m about so say. I gave him a huge smile and exclaimed “You are so good! You did a great job! I love all of them! Thank you so much!” His face was beaming. I gave him a hug. I will never ever forget that day 💕 Yes, this shot was taken by the kid. I will share his photo in my stories so you know what he looks like just in case you run into him when you visit this pagoda ☺️⁣

📍International Buddhist Academy, Sagaing, Mandalay (Myanmar) 🇲🇲 [english below]
~
~
Qué planes tenéis este finde ??? Contadnos!
~
FELIZ FIN DE SEMANA!!! 🥳

Finding hidden gems is always cool. We really love learning more about Buddhism during our trip. We found this place thanks to @justwotravel and we knew we had to visit it. They are one of those Spanish couples we follow and love! :)
